麻坡一日游 One day trip in Muar, Johor

Have you ever wondering of having trip in your own country?
You don't have to go to the tourist attractions that usually broadcasted in the TV, only if you are looking for something different than the artificial building/culture, but sadly, those places that are seldom noticed by everyone and seldom made important of by tourist trade.
In Malaysia, there are still some places to be visited before you judge the lack of good tourist places, though all these good places don't usually paid attention by the media.
Additionally, not all(or much) meaningful and worth visiting tourist places are shown in tourist guides that you can easily get from the tourist agency.

In other words, different people different views, maybe there is part of us don't take the adventure journey as very first priority, maybe because of the toughness of the journey. Exposure under hot sun light and so on...

Let's go straight to my 1st sharing of travel sharing about Muar in Johor.
That's a one day trip, (of course there would be a second visit soon).

The trip started with a brunch:

Mee bok

This mee bok seller start their business from 7am until all sold out。 Normally, it sold out early in the morning, since it's really delicious and cheap.

Price: RM3 (by the time of this writing, and before this is RM2.50)

This street is full with many kind of food stall.
You can find pork satay, fried sticky rice, fried prawn mee, otak-otak, and so on...

As what's told by local resident, the number of stall around the street is getting lower because of they have no inheritor wants to continue those business.



Next, the cheapest coffee I have ever tasted in Malaysia.
There is a theme restaurant, all kind of coffee beverages are sold at half of its price during weekend from 3 - 6pm.

Little Cafe UPDATE (2014-April-28): This cafe has moved to new location, named LOTTA. check out this foursquare link for GPS location. The half price coffee only available from 3pm to 6pm everyday except public holiday. Take a visit, I like this restaurant very much, nice and cheap coffee.
Working time: Tuesday - Sunday (Business time end at 12am)

This is just a one day trip in Muar, yes, if possible, there would be a second visit since I missed some nice foods there, and too, a second visit to Little Cafe for cheap and nice coffee.
I missed out taking the photos of some foods, that means what's shown above aren't the only thing we consumed that day. ^^


Places I visited

Memior of the Dato' Koh Thian Peng

After the brunch, we visited the well-known temple located in Muar. This is a very sanctified temple which initiated by the temple owner, Koh Thian Peng. The owner got his fame from his sanctified ‘Spirit Summoning’, and he appointed a Dato' title after he successfully cured the King in Johor from a very serious sickness with the 'Spirit Summoning' ritual.

The voice from fisherman at Muar. Since government is trying to cut down the expenses toward supplement gasoline tax for fishermen, so it ends up this manifestation.








This is just a normal green farm, a grain farm. I like its greeny feel and this was my first time got to grain farm so close.

Thing that interests me

 That row of buildings, this is the only one building that 'Standalone'. This is the only building that not connected to other building like others do. Besides, it has its unique design and colour, unlike others only in blue and same pattern entirely.
There are more historical buildings situated in Muar which I've missed, looking forward for second visit~

Muar's Food discovery:

In May, I went for a motorcycling trip in peninsular Malaysia with a friend. We passed by Muar to meet a local friend, HF. She led us to a stall which sells 菜头糕 (pronounced as cai-tou-gao).

The seller starts his business early in the morning, and if you are late, you'll miss this must-try food.

Trafficker is preparing the food for us.

It has egg, vege and other not-known ingredient in it, the combination of the ingredient makes a really tasty food, especially the time you eat just after it's ready to served.

Brightest Moon

This photo was taken 6.45AM, this is the brightest moon I've ever seen above my house. The beautiful moon light shone into my shutted eyes, and awoke me early in the Morning.

SOS - Save Our Seahorses

Seagrass Bed Between Johor and Singapore

This is the seagrass bed  located in between Singapore and Johor which property belongs to Malaysia. Guide to the seagrass bed was leaded by a trained SOS voluntary profession.

The power plant and harbour were built just opposite site. Scrapheap, including chemical waste, are left mixed with the sea water, besides, sea water is used as natural engine cooler for those buildings operator, and so habitat of surrounding benthos are greatly shattered.

Chemical wastes in sea water fortify the chemical element (I don't know, so can't specify the kind) and boost the speed of reproducing/growing of algae. The overgrowth of algae, blot out sunlight from reaching the benthal, lead to the small chance of growing to undersea benthos that can't grow well under sunless condition.

I went there and what I did was volunteering to look for seahorse, in order to "tag" them with significative signs, for recording the geological position and number of existing seahorse. Seahorses are well set free after the recording process.

是命运吗？
听见朋友讲述自己的实习生活的日子有多充实，实在能让我心里失去平衡，我能做的却只是一直羡慕和不停地羡慕……嗯…意思是说“真的很羡慕”。
